How can I hook up a small car speaker into my pc?

I want to hook up a speaker to my Pc. The pc only has headphone like plugs not usb. I grab a cable that has a headphone jack on one side and rca’s on the other. I cut the rca’s and splice it to the speaker, plug it in but no sound comes out. I checked the speaker in my car and it does work. I dont want to buy pc speakers cuz its for my work pc and people like to take steal things. Anyways is this even possible?
