I have an old PC with a 12 volt power supply. The label indicates that at positive 12 volts, it can supply 10 amps. I’d like to use it to “bench” test a car stereo.

First, will this power supply work? Second, there’s a lot of wires and connectors coming out of the box…which one is simply the black and red wires for positive 12volts dc??

SCG asked:

Ok, so I’ve seen videos on youtube on how to use a computer power supply to power up the car amp. and i know for sure that it works.

What I want is, instead of using the entire pc power supply just to power the amp, can’t I power it (using the extra wires, eg. for another hard drive) WHILE LEAVING THE PC CONNECTED.

I dont mean leave the pc connected to electricity while doing the connections, I mean..can i have the power supply with the computer and amp at the same time?

If so, I have a 250W power supply and planning on putting a 200W amp on the power supply along with the computer thats already on it
