doyou asked: I have an old Pentium 233mhz PC that has Windows 98. I want to install it into my car. The problem is that I live in Phoenix, and the temperatures here regularly get to 120. After sitting in the sun all day it gets very hot inside! I know the processor is the most heat sensitive part in a PC, so I am going to build a custom cooling system, out of a portable beverage cooler. Will run 24 hrs a day. What else do I need to keep cool? any suggestions on this project??
I am using an old computer, because it is simpler, and basically free, and If I screw up, I won’t be out much money. Also why trow it away, when I can put it to good use?
Fans won’t help when the inside of the car is over 160+ degrees. That is why I wanted use parts off a travel cooler: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3942757 and cool it lower than ambient temperature. If just say the hard drive and CPU are in critical need to keep cool, I could more easily cool them, rather than the whole case.
I want the inexpensive GPS, with a large screen. Also want internet.

jbenny1 asked: I need to find a way of installing a standard PC (e.g. Pentium 4) into a car. The standard PSU is designed to be connected to a 240V AC supply. I’ve tried an AC/DC convertor but these things heat up and require large amounts of power (Amps) and they take up a lot of space and do get quite hot when running.
I think all of the output on the PSU are DC and below 12v so could i not just create a simply circuit to step the voltage down to the correct levels 3.3v, 1.5v ect and then draw off the current at these levels.
Any ideas?

Hercules asked: Hi all,
I want to add a PC fan controller to my car so I can control fans that blow over my amplifier. Obviously, I can wire the fans right into the controller but the controller itself has a 4 pin molex.
There are four wires — 12v, Ground, Ground, and 5v. I don’t have a 5v connection available in the car, obviously. I wonder if the 12v connection and a single ground is enough to get the controller to work, or not?
Much obliged for any help!
To add some more details… the INPUTS on the fan controller are the 4 pin molex. Each fan has its OWN output (on a controller).
Thanks

phate4u asked:
I’m starting a small PC Modding business and for one of my cases I want to install a ignition (like the kind you find in cars) and use a key to turn on the computer. Does any one make something like this or how could I fix a actual car ignition system to do this?
